Quality time is a language of love that can be overlooked as a routine aspect of any relationship when, in reality, speaking this love language requires more than simply being in the presence of a loved one. While the quality time that is desired in relationships may vary in terms of content and environment, one aspect of this time that remains essential for this language to be spoken is a dedication to undivided attention. Engaging in this language of quality time can entail a mutually enjoyable activity or outing, but this extraneous factor is not required for someone's desire for quality time to be met. More often than not, people who identify quality time as their primary love language simply crave eye contact, active listening, and engaged conversation more than anything else.

Undivided attention can be given and received even when outside factors are influencing the quality time being spent between loved ones. Sitting next to a loved one and aimlessly watching television may be a common occurrence in your relationship, but if your loved one seeks quality time in order to feel loved, diving into Netflix without any intention of conversing or interacting may not do the trick. The key distinction between "time" and "quality time" therein lies within one's dedication to making their loved one feel paid attention to, acknowledging that this time that you are spending with one another is intentional, meaningful, and stemming from a place of love.
